This work experience was in collaboration with Channel4. I gained an incredibly deep understanding of the processes involved in various departments of Channel4 including: Consumer Insight, 4studio, Legal and Compliance, Sales, and Commissioning.
The course took a few weeks to complete and contained various different tasks and exercises along with quizzes at the end of each module to allow us to put our new found knowledge into practise and to test our understanding of the module. Throughout the work experience the professionals would give insight into their jobs along with an explanation of how they would handle each task given to us, allowing for an even better understanding of the material and a chance to improve before moving on. To finish off the experience, we were treated to a live Q&A session with the professionals to further cement our knowledge and clear any questions we may have.
During this work experience I worked through modules such as: Introduction to the TV and Film industry, Analysing TV and Film, Pre-production, Production, and Post production.
The course took a week to complete where I was given practical tasks and slides of information to learn from including a quiz at the end of each module to allow me to test my knowledge. Each practical task simulated a key role in the industry and allowed me to actually get into the role and understand it from the perspective of an employee. As well as being fun, this type of work made it easier to learn and gain new skills for the industry.
